What happens when you test it there?

ClamAV is not a fully automated install and there are several ways to deploy it. Which version/package did you download and how did you install it? Have you read http://info.mailtraq.com/clamav-95?

Usually you will need to successfully run freshclam as well before it will do any scanning. In principle Mailtraq needs to connect via TCP/IP to ClamD (which must be running) and pass it files to scan. Mailtraq can launch the ClamD process itself or it can expect it to be running independently.

I thought that I would try the loading process again. Using the instructions in KB08030602 Installing clamAV ver 0.95 Anti-virus, MS 7.0 64 bit

The instruction "Use this download: Download" does not work I got this message

403. That’s an error.
Your client does not have permission to get URL /files/clamav-0.95-1a.exe from this server. (Client IP address: *.*.*.*)
You are attempting to perform an activity that you have insufficient permissions for. If you feel this is in error, please contact the project administrator. That’s all we know.

So I downloaded version 0.97 from another source and that performs in standalone mode OK; however I still get "unable to connect to clamd Socket error 10061"

I am stumped :)

I don't know where all that went wrong but I have put a file up: http://resources.mailtraq.com/files/clamav.zip which is 0.97 (not the latest, which I believe is not available for Windows yet). If you extract all this to "C:\ClamAV" and then run "freshclam.exe" from the command prompt (in that directory) then it should eventually update itself. Then point Mailtraq to "C:\ClamAV\clamd.exe".

That aside, I talked to a representative at AVG today and we have agreed on how to move forward and I'm I think we will have an update soon.

Rather late, but I suppose better than never. We have completed the initial AVG 2013/2014 integration (after a very slow licensing process) and while I had hoped to have a build up we are waiting for a new certificate. I thought, in the mean time, I'd at least let you know that it is imminent.

Is it now safe to assume that AVG 2013 works?

The release notes suggest so:

Code: Select all
2.17.6.3398 Jan 23 2014 3:21PM
- Added support for StartSSL Certificates
- Updated IMAP Search Optimisations
- Added support for AVG 2013/2014

AVG 2015 might be another kettle of fish though. ;)
