The Mailtraq Support Mailing List

Postby Elric Pedder » Wed Jul 23rd, 2008 12:18pm

For those of you who prefer to use e-mail the Mailtraq Support mailing list is a long-standing independent peer support group. This mailing list existed long before our forum and many experienced users offer advice and assistance there. The list itself is hosted using Mailtraq's mailing list feature.

I was previously subscribed to this, then it stopped. Now you are re-starting will I need to re-subscribe?

When the list is operating again existing subscriptions will be maintained.

I'm going to guess that this list is now defunct. Emails to mailserver@mtq.org.uk are bouncing, the cited URL returns a blank page, and www.mtq.org.uk appears to have more to do with mountain biking than mail servers.

Yes I believe it is now closed. If people want a mailing list I would be happy to arrange for it to be hosted here and to import the subscribers. I don't think, however, that there is much interest in support via mailing lists at the moment. If you think differently, please post!

Well frankly, I prefer mailing lists.

Both have their place. Forums are great for breaking discussions out into threads and providing a readily-accessible archive of previous discussions, while mailing lists have the advantage (to some) of pushing information to you instead of requiring you to go look for it. Forum notifications can alert you to new activity, but still require you to go read the actual details.
