Trying to configure DNS

Postby TrevorL » Tue Oct 16th, 2012 11:28am

I'm having difficulty with setting up my DNS records correctly, mainly due to not having had to configure anything for so long my knowledge has faded.

I need to set a Reverse look up in the DNS record but cannot figure out how to edit it. Apologies this is very basic query.
The new IP address is 212.159.78.184 and the domain is snotties . com , I run a basic Mailtraq server on this IP and although Mailkeep is sending mail via SMTP okay nothing else is getting through directly, so I think I must have mis-configured something. I changed the A record over 24 hours ago, but I guess I might be being impatient.

Reverse DNS is managed by the owner of your IP address, which appears to be PlusNet. If you have been issued a static IP address then generally you are entitled to have the reverse DNS assigned too and you should ask their support department to assist you.

Thank you Elric,
After some further reading I was slowly coming to this conclusion, but as ever you have been very prompt with your assistance.
