Messages build up in 'Outgoing mail'

Postby Susan Bunbury » Tue Sep 06th, 2005 11:56am

Q. My system has been working perfectly but now messages build up in 'Outgoing mail'.

When I use 'Clear Host Assignments' a few messages go but most remain.

When I examine the Mailtraq Event Log I see entries like this:

02/09/2005 06:21:15 220 AVG ESMTP Proxy Server 7.0.338/7.0.344
<entries removed>

02/09/2005 06:21:16 DATA ---> 452 Error: problem creating queue file

What has gone wrong?

A. The error message "452 Error: problem creating queue file" does not come from Mailtraq but a 'remote' SMTP server.

In this case the one belonging to the AVG anti-virus software: AVG ESMTP Proxy Server

When you install AVG (see - ) you should not install the email component. If you do install it and then simply try to disable it from the AVG console under some circumstances the component can unexpectedly turn on causing problems.
Best wishes,
