I can't find the message I refer to here, but not so long ago I posted on these forums about installing the MMC console on a separate PC to the one that Mailtraq was installed on. I recall the advice received was to install the main application, and during installation select only to install the console.
Unfortunately the MailtraqWixSetup2804.exe which I try to install from doesn't offer any options with regard to installing just the console - I have to install all or nothing. Which is a pain in the seating device as when you try to launch the console Mailtraq then insists that it wants a registration code.
In the early days of the MMC console development I think it may have been possible to download just the console snap-in. Leastways I just checked my file store and I have a MailtraqSnapin.ocx file dated 5th May 2009.
I wonder if it might be possible in future to download this MMC console as its own installation package without the full Mailtraq installation?
I'm having to remote desktop into my server every time I want to do anything with Mailtraq, would much prefer to be able to use the MMC console.

Try the latest beta, which is at http://resources.mailtraq.com/files/MailtraqWixSetup2832.exe
This corrects a problem with the installer that prevented you from seeing the option to install only the MMC snapin.
Thanks Elric!

I have downloaded and installed the package referenced above, and tried opening the MMC console, without success. I also discovered the following web page which was helpful:
http://www.mailtraq.com/console
I tried initially to launch the console by double-clicking it, but as I am using a 64 bit PC at both ends of the connection I figured that maybe I should use MMC /32 instead (I seem to recall that was the advice when I tried using this last year).
The console comes up with its dialog about which PC to connect to, with user name and password requests. When I enter that information it goes to sleep for a while and then comes back and says it can't get a response from the server. This same console launches okay and talks to Mailtraq when run from inside the server, so I guess I will need to do something with firewalls.
I'm running Windows 7 client, Windows Server 2008 R2 for Mailtraq. Both 64 bit.

Check that you can telnet from your client machine to the server on port 7889, which is the remote console port. Perhaps, as you say, there is a firewall in place.
Also, mmc.exe must indeed be started with the /32 parameter, although that isn't needed if the console is loaded from a .msc file (which is a saved console). The installed shortcut is to a provided file named MailtraqConsole.msc.
