Is it just me or have we lost a couple of days worth of postings since the maintenance ? ?
Yes I'm afraid so. My apologies to everyone. We had a bit of a catastrophe out here during the upgrade. We were moving the services on to a different computer but after doing that we had a drive failure in a RAID array. In order to reconfigure we backed up everything (Windows Backup) but half way through the restore over the network... you'll struggle to believe this... Backup erased the backup file. Completely gone. So we had to go to a previous backup which was on Monday and everything since then has been regrettably lost.
So it just goes to show that RAID, Daily backups and a backup while offline immediately prior to re-installation... still isn't good enough.
I note that I've lost a post or two. One was a bit of a ramble anyway, so not much lost there!
I'm very sorry! I know how frustrating it must be. I'm afraid we simply don't have any records of the posts. I thought our RSS capture was storing them but apparently when it saw they were off the server it deleted the local copies too.

Bummer about the extended maintenance time. I noticed it seemed be out for longer.
Initial estimate was 3 hours but ultimately it was 13 hours and we have to do it all over again.
(I should mention that this time we're aiming for a very short downtime)

Not when using Windows, apparently.
I do wonder why I persist with it.
Maybe if everyone picked the same time to not maintain the dominant paradigm, we could all shift to something a bit more reliable (and cheaper!)
